2015 Old Vine Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard
We cold soaked our Zinfandel grapes for three days before fermenting in t-bins for ten days. The wine was then moved into new American oak barrels where it was aged for 36 months. It has a rustic ruby hue that displays it age beautifully. Enticing aromas of pomegranate juice, anise, and cedar jump out of the glass. This aged beauty has smooth flavors of unripened strawnberry, cranberry, and boysenberry jelly. The finish is long and lingering. This wine truly shows how versatile the Zinfandel grape is, and what barrel aging can do to the variety.
